What Can I Expect on My First Visit?
To determine the degree of misalignment and exact adjustment required, the doctor uses a Neurocalometer to read the temperature of the spine, 3-D spinographic x-rays, and leg length measurements. These tools reveal the exact malposition of the Atlas and/or Axis and tell the chiropractor the correct manner in which to reposition the vertebrae. The adjustment itself is barely felt by the patient and requires no forceful twisting, pulling or cracking of the head and neck.
Do I Get Adjusted Each Visit?
It is impossible to predict in advance the number of adjustments any given case requires. At each follow-up visit, the chiropractor will take a neurocalometer reading and leg length measures to determine if misalignment or interference exists. If the measures indicate no misalignment or interference, no adjustment will be done. If misalignment or interference is detected, then nerve pressure has returned and you will receive an adjustment. Remember...it is not how much we do, but how right what we do is.
The speed with which people recover depends on several factors:
- Amount of damage done
- How long the patient's disorder has been present
- Consistency of treatment (i.e. continued removal of interference)
- Patient's cooperation with chiropractor's instructions
- Age of patient
